Students Offering Support (SOS) is a youth-driven charity that ‘elevates education and ignites leaders’, locally and globally. Since 2008, our programs have been delivered on more than twenty-five campuses across Canada and 12 countries around the world, supporting an engaging 10,000 past volunteers and supporting an estimated 250,000 youth globally. VP of Business Development
Role Description:
The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for developing relationships with corporate partners to gain financial support for SOS operations and development projects. Your role is also to manage the Business Development Team effectively and ensure that they are motivated to achieve goals as well as meeting all required guidelines, regulations, deadlines, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing your Chapter’s Annual Sponsorship Plan and Sponsorship Packages through participation in Goal Setting and Strategic Planning activities with other Executive members and SOS National Head Office throughout the summer
- Participating in Skill Development and Training Sessions with SOS National Head Office and other volunteers from across the country; and,
- Familiarizing yourself with SOS national systems and policies to support effective Chapter operations
- Coordinating day-to-day management of local level sponsorships, including:
- Identifying and initiating relationships with prospective local sponsors through ‘cold calls’, emails, office visits, and letter writing
- Confirming Sponsorship Contracts
- Ensuring all pledges made to sponsors are fulfilled throughout Chapter Activities
- Supporting day-to-day management of national level sponsorships, including:
- Providing feedback to SOS’ National Head Office and national sponsors to assist the design of national-level partnerships
- Acting as a liaison and coordination to ensure National Level sponsorship requirements are fulfilled on your campus throughout Chapter activities
- Coordinate and oversee a team of departmental volunteers to assist delivery of duties
- Attend weekly meetings among the Executive team throughout the year to support cross-departmental collaboration
- Ensuring all volunteers are familiar with requirements of local and national level sponsorships

- Familiarity with SOS’ Operations are an asset; existing knowledge and skills in the subject matter areas relating to your position are a strong asset
- Availability to contribute to Goal Setting and Strategic Planning activities throughout the summer is an asset
